Jo learned “Hooking” early in her life from her mother and grandmother. She learned the basic stitches and how to read a basic pattern. When her children arrived, she found she didn’t have a lot of time for her hobby and put it on the back burner. After the kids were grown and gone and her husband was still working nights and weekends, she needed something to keep her hands busy. She tried ceramics, scrapbooking, card making, creating with essential oils, and other Pinterest inspired projects. She enjoyed all of these but nothing seemed to fill the need. When her daughter suggested she take up crochet again she started making baby blankets and infant clothing. Enjoyable but not quite “IT.” A Pinterest search for patterns brought up Amigurumi patterns for toys and animals. This proved to be “The Thing” she had been looking for. Now she enjoys the challenge of bringing her visions to life through original patterns and sharing them with others. Special requests are always welcome as they bring unique challenges and have led her in directions she otherwise wouldn’t have thought to travel.
Jo grew up, got married and raised her children in North Dakota. After spending years talking about moving to the Black Hills, she and her husband, Keith, decided to take the leap and make it happen. They came to Hot Springs in the Fall of 2017. When their kids started moving to the area, it became home.
She enjoys her grandbabies, driving the Hills either by car or motorcycle, reading, crafts of all kinds and of course, crochet.
