Sheila Brunson is a mixed media artist who recently moved from Indianapolis to Hot Springs, South Dakota. She shares her home studio with 3 rescue rabbits and 2 cockatoos. A lifelong animal lover, she has been vegan for 40 years.
Her creativity evolved from sewing to art, when she took her first mixed media class at age 75. After 2 months, her instructor encouraged her to enter a painting in a juried show. To her surprise, that painting sold the opening day. She since has achieved success and been accepted in shows in several art galleries in Indianapolis.
Her paintings reflect her love of color and abstract art. She works in acrylic and oil, and hand painted papers. Her latest passion is painting with cold wax and oil, using a silicone bowl scraper instead of a brush. She’s looking forward to many years of art surrounded by the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota.
